The Concord Group estimated the project budget for the station to be $14,172,386. Due to ongoing construction material and supply chain issues costs estimates have risen. The original estimates in August 2021 on the cost of the project were between $11,405,620 and $12,100,590.

Over the past five months City staff has worked with FGM Architects and construction consultants Concord Group to develop a station design based upon the fire departments current and future anticipated needs. In January 2022 the Common Council approved the design and construction plan for the project. After three years of review of the Fire Department's existing stations and the costs associated with remodeling each fire station the City's design consultants, FGM Architects recommended to construct one new station at the existing site of Station #2 located on Ramsey Avenue.

The Fire Chief and Mayor, based on Common Council approval were asked to review the City's two current fire station facilities and provide a recommendation to either upgrade the existing two stations or possibly consolidate into one new fire station.
